08 incentives?

I just heard MB has put out additional incentives on the 08 GL to move the 08's. Any idea on what they are?

I just put the deposit down. 10,500 off sticker on a new 2008 gl550. I believe the rebate is 4k dealer cash back.

I can confirm that is the current deal in Canada, anyway.

Will they apply it to your deal?

I can take the $4000 or 4.9%. The time value of the rate is higher for me, so that's what I'm taking. I can get a similar rate from the bank, but it has to be floating, and secured against some other asset, so it is a pain.

Now I was quoted $500 over invoice then they would also take the $4000 off.

About $9000 off sticker. sounds like a pretty good deal? or should I keep shopping?

Hello here from a new guy interested in a 550 as well. So far my negotiations has yielded $9000 off an MSRP of $83,500. The bar has been set at $10,500 though so there's more work to be done !

The dealer told me the $4,000 is for a cash purchase only. I lease so it is of no value to me. They have 2 sitting on the lot though and with the price of gas/diesel they aren't moving too quickly. I'll wait until the '09's start showing up and I'' have my choice of vehicles and will be able to compare offers. Of course, I'm out a new SUV for the summer! Enjoy yours!

I believe you are correct sir ...also, don't forget that some dealers do not go behind invoice and others will...good luck with your search

Thanks, Grover!

But, you should know that if you are leasing, the residual rolls over at the end of this month, meaning that even if you get a better deal on the total price, you will be paying more for your proportionate use, so you will likely face higher payments after this change than before, as it will convert to essentially a year-old car for leasing puropses at that time, being more expensive even if the rate goes down.

July 4th GL 320 cdi Deals

Anyone know that discounts are available for a fully loaded GL 320 - I was quoted "invoice" price, $65,950 MSRP would sell for $62K.

I have seen $10K discounts mentioned on the boards. Anyone have any suggestions?

The $10K discounts are on gas-guzzling 550 and 450 models. This discounts are much less on 320's because they are in big demand, having the best fuel mileage of any full-size SUV. Also, some MB buyers are wising up to the fact that the '09 bluetec/adblue situation is a big step down from the '08 technology - forcing run-flat tires, etc.

Big Demand????

Sorry, even the CDI is not in real demand, primarily because diesel is so ridiculously expensive and its mitigating cost savings due to the mpg advantage. I'm looking here in NJ and the dealers have plenty of them and are more than willing to work a few hundred over invoice minus the 4000 rebate. That works to about 8K depending on equipment which isn't bad.

I'm thinking of making a cash offer of $70,000 on a few loaded GL 550s I've found. Before the July incentive, I had a "local" dealer give me a price of 73,500 on an 83K MSRP. The search I did yielded 14 white ones equipped the way I wanted, so maybe someone will bite. I don't need it now, if ever, but at that price it's worth making my wife happier.

$70K would be about $7K under invoice and a real desperation sale for a dealer, even in this tough market for SUV's. Go for it, you have nothing to lose and it will make you happy as well as your wife...:-)

In speaking to a half-dozen dealers with an in-stock vehicle optioned the way we'd want, just under 72 is the best I've gotten. What I'm really not sure of is to jump now, wait it out and maybe see it fall another few thousand, or to order a 2009 at invoice. I saw on the other thread there were some improvements made to the 2009. I guess putting a dollar value on that answers the question basically.

I would get the '09 550 at invoice if I was making the choice. The COMAND, vented seat and Nappa option, the relocation of the DVD player and some other stuff would be enough to swing me from the '08. The '08 and '09 are identical in all other features so it is a money decision.

Good hunting...:-)

+1

I love my '08, but if you can get an '09 for invoice, then that is a very good deal for the upgrades that Jack mentions.

I'm beginning to agree with the 09 thinking (Sorry to the OP for the hijack but I guess technically we are still on the OT). It's already 70-something thousand so why not suck it up and get the latest?
