Alpine GL550

We were at an event on Sunday called Thunder on the Lot which is a car show/bike show/poker run to raise money for various local charities. Alpine stereo had this GL550 on display. 24" wheels, the COMAND center had been replaced with (presumably) a better Alpine one, behind the 3rd row seats were speakers.

I didn't immediately recognize that it was a GL as the paint & body work was quite different. The picture isn't great as all I had was my camer phone, but I had to get a picture of it for the forum!

I wonder what makes you say that.

Pretty wild Jen!

What did you think of their command unit?

Did you have a chance to listen to the speakers?

I'd love to see this thing in a city near me to check out.

GL450 (Alabaster White/Black Interior)
Not my taste, but to each his own. They've probably got a ton of money tied up in that thing.

Its uhh...unique for sure. I can't say I would want to drive it, but hey, it's not my car.
What's up with the Alpine roof rails? Did it have satellite TV?

Why don't the morons at Alpine show all their show-vehicles on their web-page, or am I just to retarded to locate it?
they only have other / older demos:

Unfortunately, the COMAND unit was off, or at least, not hooked up. It was in the same location as the MB one, but said "Alpine" across the bottom plastic part. The joystick was also missing, so I'm assuming it was a touch screen model.

They didn't have the speakers going or if they did, there was so much other noise, we didn't hear them. They were parked right next to a grandstand which had a band playing.

It was definitely different looking. I didn't realize it was a GL right away, but my husband did.

It had the RSE screen mounted in the head restraints, but they were not operating, so I don't know if it had satellite TV. I think the roof rails are ugly, but hey, to each his own!

Glad I am not the only one who thinks so.

That's a pretty darn good shot for a camera phone! Interesting look - thanks for sharing.
