thinking of trading it in....
GL! Hopefully someone else will chime in with a better idea of trade in value.
I've been disappointed and frustrated with the reliability issues with the GL, and even more so with my local dealer. Letters to the dealership and to MB have gotten me nowhere.
This is a hard decision for me because I really love the styling and drivability of the truck. But the issues I've had combined with some ergonomic frustrations (nav system, ipod integration, rear dvd setup) have me thinking about a new truck.

Give me the mileage & I'll check Manheim (national auction website). This will provide you with the most conservative, likely scenario in a trade-in.
Not a lot of auction volume for GL550's. The only one listed is the Riverside (CA?) auction with the following closed transaction:
4D SPORT UTILITY GL550 AMG, 8,115 miles, $65,000, 06/19/08 auction date,
RIVRSIDE, 8 cyl, Gas, Automatic, Avg condition, WHITE body
All auctions are submitted and reported in average condition. From experience I can tell you the most MB dealers would have offered you was $65K, but then only w/in 2 weeks of June 19th. You're probably looking at somewhere between $62K - $64K (4 weeks removed from the last sale; close to release date of MY2009; higher fuel costs).
Good luck! Visit once in a while - I'm convinced you'll be back.
Good luck with whatever you get. I have been in the same situation myself with a Land Rover. Just be aware that it is possible to fall out of the frying pan, into the proverbial fire, even with a Japanese car...sometimes you have just gotta ask yourself: If someone paid me $20,000 or whatever your spread is to drive this car for a couple years, would you do it? sometimes it's too easy to roll the debt into a new ride, but if you sour on that one, you will be in real deep. I know we are all big boys (girls) here when it comes to "snack bracket", but to flush what your housekeeper takes home in a year over some issues is pretty tough. Just say'n 'cus I have been there myself... and still not sure I did the right thing. Just say'n.
I can't find anyone who'll give me over 54k for it. That's too much of a loss for me.
I'll see what else I can work up, but it'll go before the warranty is over regardless.
