07 GL320 shut down . . . again

I have a 2007 GL320CDI (diesel) which I bought new in June 07. It has about 22,000 miles and is a great car except for a few "issues".

Again, today as I was driving at highway speeds, the car began to not respond to my throttle input. I knew what was going to happen next. So I pulled over and sure enough when I came to a stop, my GL turned itself off. It started back up immediately but would only go a few feet before shutting off again.

Since this had happened to me before I knew that I could get my GL to the dealer (just 2 exits ahead) as long as I kept the transmission from going into 7th gear.

I arrived at the dealer and explained to my service advisor what had happened. The first time this happened several months ago, the dealer kept my GL for about 2 weeks and replaced the rail which is part of the fuel intake system. Most of the time at the dealer was spent waiting on the parts.

Hopefully, the dealer can resolve this problem accurately and quickly. I'll keep you posted on what I hear.

That has to be so frustrating and scary. There are several threads on here about the same thing. I hope they find the fix quickly for you!

2007 GL320CDI
Angry GL 320 CDI failure

We've had numerous problems with our GL320 CDI, too. Purchased new in Dec 06, our 2007 model has only 14100 miles, and in the last two months, has left me stranded twice. It is at the dealer now for the most recent failure, quit after a day of driving about 400 miles, no warning, cruise control quit, check engine light came on, then stalled as I pulled over on an interstate close to home. It was very scary, I had just exited a section of a temporary bridge repair (Post Katrina) on I-10 westbound; it has NO shoulder, and is quite narrow. I was very lucky, traveling with our 16 year old daughter in the car. We don't want the car, just our money back; very frustrating!
