The manufacturer recommends them on anything from 8.5 to 10.5 inches for 275/45R21. They did the measurements on a 9 inch rim. Yes, correct that was the concern. The 285/45/21 would have been the perfect compromise, giving both overhang and height. Unfortunately I couldn't wait till next Tuesday for delivery of the Conti Cross Contact sports I was looking at. Either way, it was only 1/2 and inch of hight on both sides (1inch overall) of the rim for height, which is negligible. So far I really like the DWS, the GL seems more stable and planted and I really like the thread design on the tire.
