Navigation memory erased
Today when I went to program a destination into the nav system, I saw that all NAV memory was erased (home, prior destinations, etc). I did not have a dead battery or anything else I can think of that might of caused this. Has this happened to anyone else? I seem to recall a post about this some time ago, but I can't find it.

Let us know what you find out, because mine was all erased too after they completed Service A last week (and they rotated the tires as well). Seems weird!

Add one more to that list. Mine was blank after a recent service visit. I thought maybe I had accidentally done it but now that you guys are bringing this up maybe it wasn't me............I wonder if they are doing any kind of updates it is screwing things up?????

In the ML section, there has been a few posts on this. Usually happens after a service and the owner has not used the Nav. system for a while. (Few days). Then, when you go to enter a saved destination, that display selection is greyed out, as is your Home address.
I brought this to the attention of my dealer after it happened to me, and they had no clue or had ever heard of it.
Only fix...sit there and reprogram the thing, and cut down on your dealer visits.
No way known yet to back it up.

The dealer tells me the technician doesn't touch the COMAND unit for a tire rotation, so this continues to be a mystery. If any others have experienced this issue, please chime in.

Warning to those doing the rear seat entertainment software update, IT CLEARS YOUR MEMORY!. So don't take a roadtrip immediately after expecting to find your address history. I asked what the software update did but did not get a clear answer. Something about repairing a glitch that I never experienced. Google found this . . .Model 164 VIN Range A249659 to A315197 Model 251 VIN Range A057022 to A064910
Model Year 2008 Equipped with Option Code 864 (Rear Seat Entertainment)
Rear Seat Entertainment Systems Displays Do Not Power On, No Picture or Completely Inop

Add me to the list of forum readers who lost their memory. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
I left the dealership and went to set the nav to 'home' and it was empty. Everything lost. All my Sirius and radio presets are there, my blue tooth phone connected, just the nav data was lost.
Here's what I had done yesterday:
1) Service B
2) 4 new tires installed, balanced and wheel alignment
3) Trailer hitch recal
4) ipod amplifier install
I assumed it was 4), but I'm wondering if its a software update or something they are doing with 1) that is causing it.

This happened to me even though I brought the vehicle in for a tire rotation only. My guess is that there is some mandatory software update that is being run when you bring your vehicle in for service, regardless of why you brought it in. I'm surprised more people have not been experiencing this, though.

I had our car serviced this week, they ran diagnostics to check transmission faults, replaced transmission engage switch (takes it from park to drive or reverse), replaced air compressor, ran diagnostics for engine oil level alarms, they kept the car for 2 days, no NAvi memory loss or for that matter loss of any presets .. but then they did not rotate tires

Sadly adding myself to the list of NAV memory loss casualties. And this time it happened when it did not go to the dealer so I can't blame any software update....
