19" donut as spare for 20" wheels

I plan to buy 09 GL450 (will be my 1st Mercedes Benz) with the appearance package (20" run flat tire) and replace the run flat with normal 20" tires. Do you think I still can use the original 19" donut for this set up? Please advice. Thanks

Sure a 19-in spare is also used with the 18-in wheels.

What difference does it make? It's the only thing that will fit the storage space in any event.

as long as your rolling diameter stays the same then its ok.

even if its not the same rolling diameter, you can still use it but remember you really shouldn't be traveling more than 50miles on a spare.

Rolling diameter is same on all GLs regardless of size wheels fitted--assuming the tires Mercedes specifies, of course.

Thanks guys. I don't plan to use it for more than 50 miles, of course . I thought the rolling diameter of a 20" tire (normal) must be greater than that of a 19" spare tire
