I am buying the car from a MB dealer who seems to be clueless about brake controllers and wiring. The trailer dealer is being more helpful. He has been doing some research and thinks it will be difficult to hard wire the '07. He recommends the Drawtite RF unit instead.

07 GL450
I have an early 07 GL450 production date May2006. The SAM connector for the trailer brake is in the right rear quarter panel. Does anyone recomend a place in Southern,CA that has actually performed the wiring transistion to under the dash?
Camping World techs scratched their heads and another trailer shop wanted to pull seats and carpet to run the harness to the dash. The 3rd place I asked wanted to go down, out, under the vehicle and back in at the firewall !!!!!!
The dealer has never done a early 07 GL450!
I live just North of Los Angeles and would love to find a shop/tech. that has actually performed the relocation from the back to the front of the SAM trailer wiring connector since MB took 6 months after my production to do it right.

mercedes gl320 2008
We just had the local Portland oregon MB dealer install a new factory hitch. We are Towing a 2015 Airstream sig 23. The diesel combined with that amazing heavy Mercedes factory hitch pulled like a dream. So check this out. I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500 diesel with bigger exhaust and cold air intake, larger higher output fuel pump. I towed the same Airstream trailer and drove the same route to the beach. On the steep hill passes the Mercedes Gl320 kicked the Dodges butt! The Gl had more power and of course a superior ride, comfort and handling. SOLD SOLD SOLD BABY! I am using a Curt pro anti sway and weight distribution hitch as well as the Tekonsha Prodigy RF wireless brake controller. Todd

If your bake control wiring is at the rear SAM get an RF linked brake controller. If it is up at the dash, any one can wire it.
