Low Coolant Level Indicator...

...came on, so I need to add some coolant. The manual refers to using MB 325.0 anticorrosion/antifreeze agent. Is this a proprietary formula that I need to get from dealer? Also manual states mix should be 50/50 with water. Assume I should create a pre-mix when I top it off? Finally, I am a little surprised that the indicator came on given relative few miles and youth of car. Has this happened to anyone else? Thx in advance,

That's odd, 'cus mine came on yesterday as well.

When I opened up the expansion tank,it looked as full as it could go, and upon restart, the message was gone...

Mine came on a while back and dealer topped it off during service B.

Funny, this happened to me last week. I opened up the tank and it was plenty full. When I restarted the vehicle, the message was gone as well. Haven't seen it since.

I'm at 17K on mine...

Get the dealer to do it under warranty. Same thing happened to me. I topped mine up with about a pint of de-ionized water (no need to use pre mix for a small amount per the operators manual). Last time it was in to the dealer, it was a little low again (light not on) and I mentioned there 'may' be a leak. Tech checked out the system, found NO leaks or drips, and topped up the expansion tank with 50-50 mix (they said). No light since. Might have been a bubble that worked its way out from the factory fill.

I have seen that message a few times since new, usually on a cold morning start up. Every time I check, the reservoir was full. Rarely I can manage to squeeze in about a half a cup of Zerex G-05, to top it up. Also had the dealer check the system, and it pressure tested fine, no leaks.

I also thought it was a rouge bubble from the factory fill, but in a post somewhere, I read where someone had their ML transmission software re flashed with the latest upgrade for tranny issues, and the message has not been seen since. I myself just had the new software re flashed and no more message as of yet. Could be something there?

Yes, cold start, but not that cold, -15c, a few hour after I had last driven it, but in direct sun. Odder yet because water will expand as it get colder, the block and everything else will shrink, making the capacity lower after it get cold.

Forgot to add that. Your right, not too cold, just above freezing or so, and after being parked overnight. I still think that a reflash would be the fix. Or the factory left a really big bubble. So far I have not seen the message re appear.

forgot to update thread. took it in for service and had MB check. my issue was loose hose clamps from which coolant was seeping. was fixed by tightening hose claps. no problem since.
