RSE DVD error message?

RSE DVD error message?
I have a 2007 with the RSE package. Recently, no matter what DVD is inserted into the rear DVD drive, an error message appears on the screens saying" invaild disc or disc error". Anyone else having/had this issue?

might sound stupid, but are you sure you are inserting the disc on the right side?

believe it or not, my neighbor came to me with the same problem and it turns out he was putting the disc upside down.

I got a similar message this weekend as well but I was inserting a burned/bootlegged DVD. Is yours a similar media?

I haven't tried a normal/retail DVD but now you have me scared so I'll check it the minute I get home for lunch...

I got that error when I was putting in burnt DVD media. It was fine with retail DVDs.

Yes, they were all retail/normal DVD's (Madagascar 2, Horton, Cars).

Did you ever figure out what was causing this? The factory RSE in my brand new 09 ML is giving me the same error message, and I am hoping I am missing something and won't have to take it in this soon.

No media type was being played. A trip to the dealer solved the problem. They ordered and installed a new read DVD unit, no questions asked. No issues since.
