Trunk Release

I am able to open/close the trunk with the key fob but with the door switch only when the engine is running.
I brought it to service and they were told by MB that this convenience feature was discontinued for the 2009 model.
Has anybody else had the saem experience?
Well, we haven't had the same experience, but over and over again we've had a similar experience. Somewhere at MBUSA, there's a lawyer with a serious paranoia and panic attack problem who, every time he sees something that might cause a potential lawsuit somewhere, he disables another "convenience" feature.
I mean, what the hell.

What idiot at MB thought this was too good of a convenience to give the $80K+?
If the hatch were to actually close without someone THERE, another person who is challenged in a Darwinian way MIGHT put their fingers in the door as it shuts and get pinched. Unless the car is running, then it is OK???

I had the whole Disney thing with my son and my daughter (twins). So I had to do princesses and all the boy stuff as well. It's a fair fight here in Casa de StevethePilot!I don't trust penguins. They always look like they're avoiding eye contact, like they're going to cruise the crowd at the zoo and pick their pockets. Always so formal, too. They just creep me out. What are they dressed up for? Waiting for their lawyer at traffic court? Right.
Are you more upset that you actually have to be present next to the rear door when it closes when the car is off?
Or would you be more upset if you tried to close the rear door from the front and your 5 year old gets their head closed into the door... "Why would MB put such a safety hazard of a feature in their cars?"
The way I see it... Nobody wins... Except for people like me who aren't bothered by closing to rear door the old fashioned way: By hand... Its quicker than waiting.
The Darwinian reference means this - "You just can't fix stupid!"
