what do you dislike about the nav? I didnt have it in my prev vehicle but I specifically didnt buy a GL last year b/c I thought the 08 and before COMAND was pretty sad technologically speaking after test driving a few japaense competitors.

I think the 09 system meets all my needs and doesnt have any major downfalls, other than no touch screen..

1. Size - third-row, ability to pile people in, haul tons of stuff, towing capacity
2. Handling - smooth tranny; adjustable suspension is almost like having two cars in one - can drive it a little more aggressively in sport, or like a boat in comfort, acceleration
3. Finish and small luxuries such as the leather dash-board, fully adjustable seats, one-button reclining third-row, folding mirrors, lights, moon roof in back; programmable features, integrated dvd system

Dislikes:

1. Quality/reliability - really not where it should be for this kind of money and upscale car as evidenced by issues on this forum. My issues which have been resolved but included failed suspension compressor, shot tranny, broken door handle, and clunking noise in suspension when elevated.
2. Electronics - while the electronics are better than most in this category (notably Porshe and Audi) they could be much better. Would be great if car manufacturers designed the head units the way apple does the iphone - with the ability to update and upgrade the OS (functionalities, features, reliability)
3. Finish and attention to detail (yes, I know it is also one of my likes, but some disappointing things in the second row, accessing the back seat is clunky, "no captain's" seat arm rests like in other SUVs, some spacing tolerances in door panel seem off, etc). A little more attention to detail would have gone a long way.
4. choice and availability of tires. for the 550 there is only one way to go. To get good handling in snow you have to change wheel size and get another set of tires.
