Service Costs
How much do services on GL 320 cost?
I understand that the spare's tire was omitted as that place was taken away for the ammonia receptacle.
Has anybody bought a spare tire/ donut tire for long travels?

If you look under the cargo floor, and u see the kit to change your tire, then there is a spare tire in the back.this is news to me if a mercedes doesn't have a spare donut,or inflatable tire in the back somewhere, could be on the inside right quarter trim also.

No, there is no spare on the GL320. No room because of the urea tank. The runflats have extra strong sidewalls to protect against rim damage before and after getting a flat. Not a perfect solution, but acceptable. I have a tire repair kit, pliers, and a compressor that I store by the Urea tank to fix punctures. I have fixed three flats in the past on other vehicles with tire pucture tools and have had excellent results. You can actually take the nail out and repair the tire in less time than it takes to swap out the new for the spare. Obviously that doesn't solve the problem if your tire comes apart or if you hit a 4x4 at night, at 70 mph, running the width of the freeway (which I've done). Hopefully, the $300+ tires that the GL320 has on it won't be too prone to tread separation. The pressure monitor should help with avoiding that as well. Letting your tires run with low pressure in hot weather at high speeds is a major cause of tread separation. A relative of mine flew one of the medical helicopters in Las Vegas and spent a lot of time picking up people between Las Vegas and the CA border. The common variables in almost all case were underinflated tires, high speed, hot weather, and heavily loaded vehicles. The TPMS should help reduce the problem on our cars.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I changed the donut spare for a full-size spare on our E-class.
There isn't room in the spare tire storage area to do same for the GL.
