Are you really sure you want a GL450 or GL550 to replace your S550??? I have a 2008 S550 with P3, Rear Seat Package, Rear Window Blinds, Premium Leather, wood/leather steering wheel and every option. I also have a 2009 GL450 with P1 (if you are getting a 2010 GL, its P2) and Appearance package s well as rear seat entertainment. The GL sounds luxurious, but the S class is truly amazing. Honestly, the GL class can't match the S550. We traded in our Gl450 twice for new ones and each GL has been horrible. Recently, our run flat tires exploded after a nail went into one of them. Also, the suspension on the S class is ten times better than the GL. I am almost thinking of selling mine. Do yourself a favor and settle for something else, preferably the 2010 S class. SO much better than the gl450.

Honestly, the W221 S-class is a very different car than the GL. I had ordered an S550 4matic but took an E63 a couple of years ago and just ended my E63 lease early to get the GL450 when my second child arrived.

Different purposes, different pros and cons.

Now I'm going to go and sit in my GL in the garage and lick my wounds...

 

im downsizing thx to the current Democratic agenda and Mr O, as well as getting married and need a family car. I am either looking for an ML or GL.

 

The GL is a great car, both my wife and kids love it. Also the 450 has more than enough power under the hood, so I couldnt justify the 550. Test drive both and see for yourself.
