Just finished installing Grill Guard on our GL450
Here are some picutres that I took with my cell. It took a while to figure out exact locations of the brackets and installation procedure. I had to modify the plastic over to protect oil pan. It looks good. Draw back is that front parking senor are out of commission now. oh, I got this from ebay.

Is the install purely aesthetic or do you really need the functionality of the grill guard. Just wondering cuz I think it throws off the look of the truck.
I do like your taste in bikes though. I've got 2 Triumphs myself.

I think it is kind of neat. Good work. I see many GL with this sort of thing in Europe. It looks better when you can see the whole car.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I do admire your DIY ability. I've always iiked doing this kind of stuff myself cuz it gives one a sense of accomplishment. I do most of the mods on my bikes too.

Grill is installed purely to protect the against the damage in a collosion. Specially when travelling in snow. You can skid for quite sometime before the truck comes to stop. Usually, my wife drive it and this is installed as per her request. She had an accident couple of years back and we lost that car (E420) and were very emotionally attached to it. So this time some added protection for unexpected event. It does have chrome mirrior cut finish. I sort of like it because pretty much all the suv's in india has this sort of grill guard. Overthere accident rates are off course on the high side. Thanks for checking out my picture though. I know it is not for everyone.

I love those Royal Enfields too. But I don't have room for another bike. I have an 06 Speed Triple and an 07 Speedmaster.
I ride as long as there's no snow/ice on the ground.

Looks good. I was looking for something like that also, but totally forgot about parking sensors. Now I don't know. I like my parking sensors.

anyone else run a grill guard on their X164? I was loking at thsi one. welds look crappy though. Any high quality units available?
I live in a deer infested area. Very common to see 1 or 2 fresh road kills in the morning on my way to work in the morning. Single lane, curvy, hills, 60 mph. Id rather just bend up the brush guard than smash my front end on a doe.

These are mostly for looks because of the attachment. They wont really protect the truck and might actually cause more damage by spreading it to hood and headlights. I had something similar installed on my Explore a while back.
