Transmission Service $$?

We are due for our transmission service, differential/transfer case fluid change. I got a quote from MB of Sacramento and it around $640+tax. How much are folks paying for this service? It was $375 for Tranny fluid exchange with new AT filter and gasket and $265 for differential/transfer case fluid change.

I know there is no dipstick on the 722.9 and only way to fill the fluid is via fuild exchange machine. This will be one not for a DIYers. I can probably do the trasfercase and differentials by myself. Any other DIYers tried this yet? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your partcipation and input.

Regards
Kamal

Make sure they use the latest version of the transmission fluid.

There is only one fluid available at all the US MB part's depots for the 722.6 and 722.9 which both use the same fluid now.

And not only does it need to be filled with a machine from the bottom, but it also needs to be checked at specific temps, depending on what trans pan you have.

I know the transmission fluid is supposed to be changed at 40K...but the differential/transfer case fluid is supposed to be changed at the same time also???

Yes the transfer case has the same interval, there is no recommended maintenance for the diffs, but it would not be a bad idea to change it at the same time.

I was told I'm due for transmission service and brake fluid replacement on my GL and was quoted a total of $650 for both.
