I had my '07 GL450 for 3 years and 18k miles. Aside from a one time problem with the air suspension which required replacement of a compressor and some relays the GL was a great truck. After some time it began to feel a bit ponderous and I was ready for something new. I had cross-shopped the X5 before but found the ride to be too flinty for my taste. I test drove the M which has a much more supple ride than regular X5's - even more car-like than the GL but with much better handling. 550 hp (close to 4.0 sec to 60) made it irresistible. Having a ball with the X5M but I will miss this forum.

Good Luck! My wifes drives an '08 X5 - great driving machine for sure, but it operates so differently than the GL - might take some time to get used to! At least the NAV and iDrive will be much more enjoyable than COMAND!

I'm nearing the end of a 36 month lease on my 2007 X5 4.8i and looking to get into a 2010 GL550. I guess on going the opposite way? Good luck!

Hey.... i remember your early posts! We were both in the "new" GL business back in 07 along with Jack and some others! Have driven mine hard.... over 50k on it .... back and forth from here in Pa. to property in Vermont..... through lots of snow and summer mud, etc. Mine has the Off Road Pack. and it has proven itself several times in deep snow and or mud of the mountains in Vermont. I wil probably drive it till it drops cuz MB dropped the ORP option immediately after the 07 run! Enjoy your new ride!

This morning's mileage on my 2007 GL320? 84001 miles. Now THAT'S driving it HARD!
STP (I'd change it to Steve the Driver, but I think signing off with "STD" would be, well, just wrong.)
