Considering new truck for wife. I originally thought 450 but after loaded up its only about $10k off a 550. Any Idea what a discount should be on 2010 GL 550. Dealer has only one on lot but there also two other dealers within 20 miles. Haven't checked their inventory yet as this one that is available has the right color and rear DVD which we want. Think i will offer $77.
MSRP is 86. Any suggestions? Also we are going finance. Is MBUSA credit best source/rate?
Thanks

If you can get it for $77k, then more power to you. I would think more along the lines of a $80-$81k sale price, but it cannot hurt to ask.

Thanks. i offered through email. They responded by wanting me to come in and sent me the MSRP sticker and invoice. window is actually 88,525. Invoice is 82,989. They said they will sell to me for a reasonable small profit.
I don't think invoice is their cost. I know that's the tool they use but will see. I told them I'm not coming in except to take delivery. I asked what they need to make that happen.....waiting

Got it!
500 over invoice or $83,4
Do all the 550's have the leather dash or is that part of the upgraded Nappa leather option? We love the truck. Color steel gray.
Once we agreed on price they came at me with 5.9% interest.
But they eventually dropped to 4.9%.
Interesting note at close they pushed the extended warranty for $3900 after I declined they offered it to me for $3000 and we settled at $2900 for the 7 yr 75k mi. I think it was fair. The interior is so nice with the upgrade. Everything was handled over about 10 emails in a day.
Less than an hour at the dealership for delivery.

Now there's the most important point. Sounds like you got killer financing, and personally MB still isn't the company it was in the late 80's so I think getting the extended warranty's a good idea, especially if you're planning lots of driving!

Don't forget - pictures are mandatory!

You actually paid $2900 for only 3 yr and 25000 miles warranty. I would definitely buy extended warranty but not at the purchase but before the manufacture warranty expires(IMO).

Nice choice! I like the color Steel Gray and I hope you guys have a lot of fun in the SUV! I think you should have gotten the 100K warranty. I recently purchased a 2010 BlueTec with 3.9% for 60 months and paid $2950 for 100K warranty...

We really liked that color too and it was the first time I had seen it. I was happy with the financial and warranty deal but you burst that bubble a bit! Nice work. I went in for delivery and was totally unprepared for the extended warranty offer. I spend a lot of time at S class forum and I just remembered discussions of $5-6K deals so I thought $3k for the extra 25k miles seemed legit. Wow that 100k was a deal for sure. Almost no question you will exceed that cost by a decent margin in 50k miles.

Congrats on your new ride. My wife loves her GL550. Any difference from the '09 besides the front fascia?

congrats - you scored a deal similar to my 09 (I paid $600 over invoice but my MSRP was more like $85k and invoice around $80k). Got 1.9% financing on a 5-year loan, but that was a special financing deal MB only offered in April and May of 2009. Didnt even get pitched the extended warranty (or if I did I quickly dismissed it), but I also did all mine over e-mail. Never stepped foot in dealership other than to test drive. I had to call out of state dealers to secure better deals as leverage as my dealership is only one in a 300-mile radius where I live but it did the trick as the original counter to my offer was $1500 over invoice (actually secured a similarly equipped truck AT INVOICE in Dallas, but in the end I didnt think it was worth $600 to drive there and back and put all those highway miles on a brand new engine).

Enjoy!

Thanks for the input all. I'm hoping to pay it off early depending on how some equities perform. The wife was out of town yesterday so I drove the truck. I am very impressed. I would compare this with an S Class on the inside with actual utility and the option to use off road or in substandard weather. Not to mention the availability to use at as a bus. For my money I began to question spending $100k+ on a five passenger sedan that offered nothing but luxury transportation on a paved road. The value of this purchase seems to be much more attractive. In addition I think this 550 might be one of the most attractive vehicles on the road let alone SUV's. Very happy!! Going to get some pics this weekend.

Not that familiar with the 09's but I know the rear was tidied up a bit as well. I'm sure the interior was upgraded slightly too but not sure exactly what the changes are.

Looks good-- I like the tire/wheel combo much better than the 320. Not familiar with them, is it a 20 or 21? what size tire?

Very cool color on the 550. I also think that the body changes, while minimal for 2010, work really well on the 550 with the fender flares and all.

Can you give me the name of your dealer? None of the Houston dealers will budge from MSRP....

I think thats what motivated me. The color with 2010 changes and the 550 upgrades made this truck a must have. It was set up exactly the way I would have ordered it. Just sitting there waiting for me to make my move.

It was Mercedes of San Diego. BTW this was the only 550 they had. They also have a white 450. You could also try Hoen Mercedes in Carlsbad, CA or Escondido Mercedes in Escondido CA for inventory. I know they will work on price. Having 3 dealers within 20 miles works well for Negotiation here in S.D. Newport,CA MB probably has the largest inventory in the nation but also largest volume. Not sure about discounts there.

That is stunning, the way that sits is just the way I would like it if I swap our 09 ML350 (Wife/infants hauler)...it has great great pressence, I just drove a 2010 same color GL450 but it doesnt have the same curb appeal as yours...congrats on the purchase!

Congrats on joining the 550 club. After using my wife's a few times recently on interstate runs, this thing is more at home loaded up and traveling the freeway than most anything else. It really likes to cruise and I'm sure being on the autobahn would be the best. Around town and on less than stellar roads is another story, and I'm glad I don't drive it in that fashion. Enjoy yours ...
