Mine is very solid. Do yourself a favor and peruse through the GL forum and read about what people have to say about theirs. Mostly a very happy group - also an informed group. The great people here helped me feel very good about picking up a GL. Go Diesel!

The electronics scare me, but they also make the GL a very pleasant vehicle to drive. I HIGHLY recommend buying or ordering one with the ADSII adjustable suspension, especially with the diesel's standard-issue runflat tires.
Only problems with our '09 thus far have been a malfunctioning airbag sensor and an intake temp sensor that was throwing a check-engine code. Both were fixed promptly by our dealer with no recurrences.

Have only had mine for two weeks but love it so far. Much better than the Denali it replaced but a little smaller in terms of cargo space. The gas mileage and distance between fill-ups is amazing for this large a vehicle!

I haven't really heard of anyone with a 2009 having a lot of problems. I have a door handle that needs to be replaced because the keyless feature isn't working and I had a battery drain issue that occurred the night after I got it back from a dealership SAM software update. I'm convinced that was related to something the dealership did since I didn't sign any paperwork to have a "relay" replaced when I brought it back in. Has anyone ever had a mercedes dealership do any kind of service or parts replacement for free with no paperwork? So, 10,000 miles later and I'm happy with the reliability.

I am... It just seems like a lot of the issues that you guys were having with the 07s and 08s have been resolved. I haven't heard about an intercooler hose, air suspension, or a liftgate problem on a 09+. Those issues seem to be resolved. Maybe I'm wrong??

Just to chime in on quality (although I have an '09 550), I have had 0 problems thusfar (12k miles), and I drove it from CO to DC over 3 days (long, long days) right after the break-in period.
