How do OEM Xenon 2007 GL450 auto adjust?

Last nite I noticed that by drivers side headlight was pointing alot lower than normal. Is there a way to manually adjust the headlights with the Xenon's or is it automatically done?

The side to side works properly, but clearly the up and down doesn't seem to be working on at least one of the sides.

I'm just hoping to avoid a trip to the dealer!

Thanks,Will

The car uses the same leveling sensors as the suspension leveling. The headlights are not manually adjustable. In the headlight you have that is pointing too low, either the small servo motor that drives the mechanism has failed or is stuck, or there is something wrong with the mechanical linkage. It is also possible for an electrical fault (power not getting to the motor) to cause the problem.

I've been wondering if we could have ours reset to default at a level just a little higher. The reflector line that goes across the road is easy to 'overdrive' even at 50 mph when the low beams are on (compared to our Linc with active lights). We live in a rural area with minimal street lighting and an animal in the road 'in the shadows' couldn't been seen until you are on it. The lows are pretty bright, just need to be a hair higher without being too high to cause oncoming traffic issues.

My guess is: Probably not. As bright as these lights are, the feds would be very reluctant to approve a set up that could be changed very easily. They really don't want to blind other drivers under 99% of driving conditions. You are right that rural conditions will often permit a higher adjustment, but that isn't the criteria the regulators use when approving a design.

I suspect not, but when we take the rig in for the warrantied door panel r&r, I'll ask if they can check them and anything can be done to set on the high side of a tolerance (if it exists and has adjustability). They really appear to be set fairly low.
