Hi, just recently found this forum, lots of good information on my favorite all-round car
!
Question on the brakes: I'm at 2 1/4 yrs., 35k miles (mostly long freeway trips), had them checked regularly, and the pads are still good, at 55% or so. Would you guys consider replacing them anyway? And is it really worth the money to go with a higher performance package like e.g. the Brembos, vs. a good set of ceramic pads?
On wheels: I've stalwartly resisted the urge to go with bigger wheels, not really that much into it just for looks, but the 20" on the current GL Diesels look pretty nice
.
Now, this is probably a silly question for those among you who are big wheel experts, but I've never quite figured out
: How will a 1" bigger wheel affect the handling on the GL, and how much will it impact fuel economy? I'm on a set of 19" Dunlop Sport Maxx right now, keep my tires fairly hard (36/42), drive above average fast, and like the handling all right. My fwy/city mix has been consistently around 22 mpg.
Would appreciate your insights, thanks!

I've always been told that as long as there's plenty of pad/rotor, leave them be.
