Smile GL450, good deal or not

Hi,
I am new to GL450, and I'm searching for a used or new car. Could you help me with a few questions?

1. Do you think this is a good deal?
Option 1: 2008 GL450, Selling for $53K.
Mileage: 8330
P1 Package

Option 2: 2009 GL450, Selling for $56K
Mileage: 12000
P1 Package

Option 3: 2011 Gl450, Offering $66K
New
P1 Package

Should I get it? Which one?

2. Is 2009 model better than 2008? i found a few threads complainging about some eletrical problems of 2008 model.

3. For Option2, what is the good price range that i could start negotiating with

4. For Option3, Do you think with 63K(P1 package) is a good deal?

5. Shoudl I wait until end of year till Thanksgiving or Christmas for any possible promotion, or promotion does not apply to used cars, just new cars?

Thanks a lot for any advice and best!

Sharron

Go to Edmunds.com or similar website and price out the cars with the SPECIFIC options they have. Keep in mind that the Premium Packages dramatically change from year to year. In some years, the P1 package has more options than the P2 in others. A 2010 GL with the P2 has fewer included options than the P1 in 2009. Most of the 2010s have a few al a carte options added to either the P1 or P2 that were included as part of the P1 or P2 in earlier years.

There certainly are some issues that seem to have been worked out prior to production of the 2009+ GLs that existed with the 2007 and 2008 GLs (probably typical of any new to market model). I would think if you were buying the 2008, most of the problems that existed would have been addressed by the previous owner. Although it may not have ever seen the service center with those kind of miles. Keep in mind that the 2009+ GLs have the newer navigation system. This may or may not be important to you but there has been a lot of complaining on here about the 07 and 08 nav systems. Your best bet is to have the dealerships run the VIN and let you know if all of the recalls have been performed and if the cars have been serviced properly. Typically, the recall work is perfomed during service visits.

Consider the warranty offered. These cars are extremely expensive to service out of warranty. Not knowing the specific options and warranties makes it difficult for us to give you advice about pricing. The rear seat entertainment sytem for instance is roughly a $2000 option new. If you plan to tow, make sure it has the tow package. It is cost prohibitive to install at the dealership.

IF there are going to be factory promotions on the 2010 GL's, you'll see them in the next few weeks. The 2011's are already on the lots. I wouldn't wait until the end of the year if you're looking for a big discount.
