UK GL420 Tireprobs

I have fitted a new set of Michelin Diamaris (275 50 R20W) to my GL420 2007, but even with careful driving and low mileage, I need to replace them within 6 months (approx. 7 thousand miles).
I am based in the UK and wonder can anyone recommend suitable harder wearing alternatives?
Many thanks

I have an 07 cdi with 19 inch tires, but the exact Michelin type you have. I have 21,000 miles so far, without problems, and by observing the tread depth, should have another 15-20,000 miles more. Unless your driving style is excessive, perhaps your tires were made with a defective rubber compound.

As a general rule, the lower the profile (50R20 lower than 60R19 lower than 65R18 etc) the more the tires are considered "performance" tires. Manufacturers engineer the rubber compounds in performance tires to have better traction and handling characteristics and often deliberately leave a lot of 'wear' on the table. The low profile tires also often have much wider contact surfaces which also hurts wear. It will probably be hard to find a wide, low profile tire that is designed for good wear characteristics.

My 305/40/22's are rated for 60,000 miles. At 20,000 miles they still look new.
