Speaker upgrades to stock GL sound system?

Speaker upgrades to stock GL sound system?
The stock system has been a disappointment. I've had to turn the bass down several notches and increase the treble a few to try and minimize the muffled sound.
Has anyone changed out the separates in the front? Is the car's amplifier a standard one whereby I can pretty much install any aftermarket speaker system? What is the amp power rating and at what impedence? I'm willing to bet even some inexpensive $200-300 components will sound better.

I have done the same as you have with the Bass and treble to improve the sound, however...I think the sound system (Logic 7) sounds great considering it is stock. I have noticed that CD's/MP3s sound alot better than either the Sat radio or regular radio.
Not sure on amp power rating unfortunately. i would be interested to know if you do swap out the speakers if it make a difference.

I've changed all my speakers, added an amp, alpine head unit, reverse camera and a compact subwoofer in the spare tire space. Nothing flash jsut a simple install. The wife wanted ipod and reverse camera.

Do you know who makes the stock head unit and how much power it puts out? What size speakers fit in the front and rear door panels? I also noticed speaker grills for the 3rd row. Do you happen to know if these are pre-wired or are they completely empty when the HK system isn't configured? What year GL do you have? Thanks.
