The ESP and ABS systems use the wheel sensors as one of their inputs. If any of them are inopperative it will flash your ABS and ESP lights. In some cases it will cause both system to not work, cause they are not receiving correct information. Are all the sensors bad?

arcatureta - are you in or out of warranty on your '08? Wheel sensors count pulses that vary in frequency when the wheels turn. Without consistent information the ABS and electronic stability programs don't have good info with which to work. Clearly they are a safety system input. Should be covered by warranty.

I would be very, very surprised if one of the wheelspeed sensors was bad, let alone all four. They are Hall-effect sensors and they basically don't fail.

What DOES happen is that they end up with little metal particles all over them over time. They usually just need to be cleaned off. The mechanic should know that.
