Navigation question

Has anyone figured out a way to keep the Nav screen to full screen mode on a 2009-11 Nav unit? In normal mode, the menus cover too much of the map. It's a pain to put it into full screen mode every time you restart the car.

I noticed it remembers the zoom scale even if you restart the car. 1/8 mile seems like the right setting.

Is it me or is the 2011 GL nav screen too small and a bit outdated? The one from the C class is much larger I think. The one in my buddy's BMW 3 series is significantly wider and provides much better info such as inline traffic info (like google maps), satellite map overlay. Plus, entering destinations is too laborious even for 2011 unit.

When I start my GL - I push the voice activation and say, "map" and it immediately goes to full screen navigation. Not exactly the answer to your question - but a very simple method to get there.

If you use the down button (I'm not sure what you call the scroll buttons on the bottom right hand corner of the command console) then scroll to the right so the bottom right wording is highlighted then hit the enter button, above will show "full screen". Hit enter again and it goes full screen. You can also zoom in and out by hitting the bottom left and right buttons on the number pad.

Thx. I'm getting more used to the Nav. Entering destination through voice makes it much easier.

Also, I've used the google map and send feature a couple time which is also nice.
