2008 GL320 CDI, 1997 528i (ret.), Lex GS350
I am not lucky enough to own the '07 or '08 CDI but have been searching diligently. I am finding that all the diesels and Bluetecs all seem to be holding their value exceptionally well.
For a 2009 Bluetec - this one dealer was not willing to go much lower than 10% off what you can get a NEW 2011 Bluetec for!!! Whatever happened to "a car loses 10% of its value the minute you drive off the lot"?
So I am considering just taking the plunge and going for the 2011. Heck if I am really unhappy with runflat and adblue issues I could just sell it in a few years and prob not loose much money (other than the stinking taxes).
That being said, I am wondering what folks on the forum are paying for a new BLuetec - in % off MSRP. Any tips?

From talking to my dealer, the story on this was (don't know how true) that there is a large export market for diesel GL's. The dealers try to avoid selling new diesel GL's to exporters because MBUSA somehow is able to track the VINs that are exported. Mercedes fines their dealerships that sell new cars that are immediately exported. So...used diesels are being purchased and exported thus limiting the supply. If I remember correctly, I did the math and found that it cost about $15,000-$20,000 more for a new GL in the UK than what the same one goes for in the US. Not sure if that is still the case, but that has obvious ramifications.

Back to the OP- I have an 08 and I plan on keeping ut forever.
No adblue, 18" wheels and a full size spare tire add up to less maintenance costs and better choice of OE spec tires. Reliability has been average and we are still in warranty (CPO) for another 2 years or 60k, whichever comes first.
The cheapest car is always the one you already own.

The important thing is to watch for and negotiate the cars that have been sitting on lots for more than 3 months. I made sure the cars had a clean carfax with service records in it so you can see if the car is problem free. In addition, I only wanted cars that were CPOed up to 100k miles and the extra year of warranty so you can have the option to buy an additional 2 years to get the highest coverage; a total 7 yr or 100K mile.
I paid $52.9K for my wife's blk/blk CPO 23K mile '09 320 bluetec a month ago with 5yr or 100K miles. Got 10% off the additional 2 year warranty which was asking around $2500 retail. I am however noticing used car prices going up again. Perhaps a sign of the economy getting healthier?
