I lost the remote control for the DVD player in my GL450. Was curious if anyone knew if it could be replaced with a universal remote control?

If anyone has any suggestion I would greatly appreciate hearing them!

 

I found new ones on eBay. The dealer wanted almost $200 for one! EEk! I found brand new in box from Mercedes: 2 wireless headsets and 2 remotes for $100. A total steal! Search there first!

 

I happened to leave mine on the roof and then ran over it! Found one on ebay.

Did your’s work out of the box or did you have to have the dealer program the specific equipment to your car?

 

Hi, so it just so happened my 2009 GL 550 got totaled and I grabbed everything from the car. Tonight started listing things on e-bay. If you need the remote, I have them on for 149 for the pair, make me a reasonable offer and they are yours! I might do a post with some of the things I have to sell.

Also - to close out whether it needed to be programmed: no, it didn’t. It just worked. (2009 ML).

Newer RSE systems may be different though. And remotes may look identical or similar, so ensure the model number is the same. (Usually in the battery compartment)
