Got my GL 320 CDI This Week....FINALLY!

After months of searching, I got my 08 CDI as CPO - and am loving it!!!

Black with Macadamia, P1, 19 inch wheel pkg, IPOD, running boards and tow.

It rides like a dream much better than i expected. Havings some issues with the tailgate acting up (does not always close) and the driver folding mirror hitting the panel.

Next steps - get a roof mount Thule for long trips.

Am loving this ride. Thanks to folks on the boards for your help during my search.

Make sure you get the tailgate fixed or it will drain your battery. Enjoy the ride.

Re: the tailgate not closing, you can feel and hear when it isn't. The only way to know that your tailgate is shut properly is when the cabin lights go out. They will never go out if the tailgate isn't shut all the way. A slight tug on my tailgate always shuts it fully, and I never walk away from the car without making sure the cabin light is off, off and off. I've never had a dead battery as a result. My SA talked about reflashing the software for the tailgate...i've found that simply turning the rubber stoppers makes it shut perfectly for a while, until it goes out of adjustment again. This is probably what they do at the dealer anyway. ;-)

Congrats! I also use a Thule box on mine - I leave the cross bars on the box and just take the bars off with the Thule on it...makes for easier install. For me anyway!

Pretty good idea. What Thule did you get?

Ahhhh, its a long one! I think we have the Mountaineer version - with a black truck it looks sharp. I place a towel under the bars I take off, undo the other side and slide it across the top of the truck on the towels. I am then able to get it off myself. I'm 6'3"...others might need assistance. But we love the Thule - put all the clothes, golf cliubs/whatever up there and we have room for dog, kids and all their travel gear! Enjoy!

I'm telling you that it will drain your battery even if you check that it is "shut". They need to check the rear SAM and make sure they fix the adjustment of the rear hatch so it closes fully every time on its own. You can read about my issues with the rear hatch and dead battery here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...d-battery.html.
Tell them you do not want to be calling them to come jump your GL when it has a dead battery.
Good luck.
