Tire wear question
Our 2011 with 20" Bridgestone runflats has 5000 miles on it. The front right tire is featuring slightly on the exterior side only. Not too noticeable but it can be felt if you run your hand over the tire.
Is this something that others are experiencing? Or potentially an alignment issue? These tires are fairly expensive so I don't want to wait too long. Thanks.

My Goodyear Runflats slightly feather in the front but they smooth out when you rotate them to the rear. Each outside tread is slightly lower in the front than in the rear but you have to look real close to even notice it. But... if your wear is different on the right front from the left front you have a problem (and I probably don't need to tell you that). I would definitely be sure to rotate every 5000.

If you are feeling the raised edges of the tread blocks in one direction and not when going in the other, then you have "Cupping" or "Scalloping" which could be caused by suspension or alignment issues. Try a web search for "Cupping tires"...it will explain it.

Thanks guys. Took the car in and they did an alignment free of charge. Camber was slightly off on right side causing the light feathering that could be felt but not visible. But caught it early enough to not damage the tires permanently. These runflats are expensive so good to check on the wear regularly.
This is the 3rd new car (both mb and bmw) that required alignment correction within first 3000 miles. Wonder if the alignment could be affected from transport and handling.
