Toyota used to rate the towing capacity of the sequoia to 10,000 lbs. They revised it down to ~7000 depending on the model in 2010. Other models like the QX/Armada and the Lexus LX do the same thing so I am wondering if GL is going to follow suit. Or is 7500 the real number while other manufacturers just jacked it up in the first place.

I ran the boat and trailer (aluminum tandem) through the scales and she is at 6800lbs with half tank of gas, full tank of water, empty sewer tank, two cases of beer, case of soda and all the toys onboard. She would shift to 5th going over the mountains to hold 60mph going there and shift to 4th coming back to hold 70mph and had no problem with the load.
That's very good to know. How much does your trailer weight? I found some light weighted(<1000lbs) alum trailer online and I think I might be ok if I stick with that. Do you have a gas or diesel GL?

Trailer weight is 1375lbs and my GL450 is gas. I avaraged 67mph and got 11.6mpg...lots of hills to climb though.

I don't think you could either in the fall of '07.

Love you man! Is Distronic still available?

Yes - we have Distronic with our 2011 Gl350. It was a special order option. Not sure that I would like it, but it certainly seems to work well.

I've heard complaints that the BMW system is uncomfortably abrupt in both braking and acceleration. How does Distronic do in those areas? Is there anything you don't like about it?

Thanks in advance for your feedback. I'd like to have it on my next GL.
