My gl450 has the off-road package..... not sure what it is that you are referring to with regard to "buying a cover" BUT the ORP is a complete system with locking differentials, etc...... clearly indicated by controls on the center stack to raise and lower the vehicle and lock the diffs! Are you talking about the "off-road" APPEARANCE package or the actual thing??

Do you have a set of off-road controls under the hazard light switch panel, or do you have a storage drawer there? Storage drawer = no off-road package.

This GL has the off-road package:

GL 320cdi, Chevrolet Avalanchero, GLE 350 (on order)
Why don't you just call in your VIN to the parts counter? it will give you the correct part number.

I was reading over the forum and found out that all gl brings like a standard offroad package and this one in the pic is the enhanced offroad package, am I right?

SL55,GL450,E320,SL500 AMG,540M-sport,928S4,and a F350 Dually
Just look at the lower cover that is on your GL now and if it has the stainless skid plate in the middle then it is the off road bumper, and that is what the parts guy is asking you. If it is ALL just black plastic and no stainless, then it is not the off road bumper.
Hope that answers your ?.

When was this off road package available in the US? I just bought a 2011 GL350 and the locking diffs etc... were not an option. Everything have is real basic traction control type stuff with a single speed transfer case.

The ORP was an "option" in 2007....they discontinued the option in 08 but sometime after that made it available as a "special order" item only. Not sure about the 350 but that was the story for the 450. You have to ask the dealer because is does not show up on the "build your own" portion of the MB website. Some guys were saying that in 09 and 10.... their dealers did not know anything about it being available in any form. Bottom line.... I was able to order it for my upcoming 2011 450.
