The new GL (2013 or 14 ?)
The new GL (2013 or 14 ?)
So we all have seen the spy pics of the new GL and the suspicion that it is going to be smaller than the current GL. How many of you all think that is the case? I'm planning to buy the new GL (the new shape) but it will be very disappointing if it is no longer a full size SUV.
Thoughts?

The current full-sized GL has been highly successful for MB and dealers can hardly keep them in showrooms so I seriously doubt the next generation GL will be smaller. That's what the new ML's are for if someone wants a 5-seat SUV. I'm guessing the new model will come out some time in 2013 as MY2014.

My expectation is that it will be slightly wider, too. Thats where it really suffers vs. the competition.

I red on several websites - it will be bigger than current and it should come at the end of 2013 as 2014 model. This link has even engine options.

2013 as a 2014 model sounds right. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it actually showed up one year earlier in 2012 as a 2013 model. 2006 was the first model year of the current ML, while 2007 was the first model year of the GL. The next gen ML is coming this year as a 2012, so the odds are good that we may just see the next GL next year as a 2013. Competition is really fierce for both of these vehicles, and the current models of both of these are lagging behind. That may be a reason why MB is releasing these SUVs one year ahead of normal schedule.
