The best or nothing
How many of you own W216/W221 along with your GL?

Just curious how do you compare these two cars in terms of build quality, reliability, ride etc.
Thanks!

Now just one GL450 with EORP.
I don't yet but I plan to acquire a W126, which is of the same bank vault on wheels era. SEC has been my want car for some time now. I imagine the w126 and w216 alike to be the epitome of reliability vs. X164. We are also talking 20 yrs difference in noise, vibration and harshness technology so GL may come out on top there.

I had a 2007 CL600 at the same time as my GL350 BTC (for at least a year). The main difference in build is in the materials. The CL definitely had much higher quality materials. The GL felt like it was built in the U.S.--from the switch gear to seat movement.

I would add that the materials were about the same as my 2007 S550. Even the Artico (read: MB-tex) felt like the standard leather that I had in my S-class sedan.

It's pretty much apples/oranges comparing a car to a truck.

The drivetrains are the same thing in both vehicles, of course, although the truck versions have a little more work to do.

My E-class is a hot rod dream compared to my GL with the same engine/transmission and it handles not like the wallowing boat that is the GL, but, again, these are apples/oranges comparisons.
