How to check coolant level

I got the message to top off the coolant. At first, I opened the small black tank near the radiator (not sure what that's for but looks like another coolant reservoir) but later realized the main coolant tank is on the driver side.

Question is how do you check the coolant level in the main tank? There's no indicator or markers. How much are you suppose to fill? Thanks.

I've had that happen in the summer. I just poured coolant in until I could start seeing it. Never had an issue.

Okay, thanks.

Does anyone know what the smaller black reservoir is for near the radiator? That one has markers on it.

I'm sure the quickest answer would be in your owner's manual.
