Experienced technicians @ Dealers in small towns?

I just found out that I will be working in Urbana-Champaign, IL for a couple of years. I have a 1 month old 2011 BlueTEC.

Q: I noticed that there is only one MB dealer in Champaign, IL. I am now worried that since there might not be very many GLs/MLs in that region, the technicians may not be experienced.

Can somebody who is living in a small town, where there is only one dealer for miles, throw some light on the quality of work?

I am considering taking my GL to Chicago (2.5 hrs away) for any routine maintenance. Is this an overkill?

For routine maintenance, you have no concerns at a small shop.

All Mercedes use the same engines/transmissions.

If they're authorized to sell the vehicle, they will have trained mechanics for them and all the special tools required.

We have only one Mercedes dealer in my state, and I doubt anyone anywhere has a better service department.
