A/C blows hot air for first 1/2 mile
2008 GL 450
The A/C blows hot air for the first 1/2 mile and then works fine. It continues to work just fine till it sits for a period of time then it is hot again for the first 1/2 mile. Anyone else see this. I do not remember it doing it in the past.

Do you have a big, cold drink in the cup holder? This happened to my wife, and the sensor for the climate control is the little lens looking thing on the left side of the AC controls. a big, cold drink can block it and give a false reading.

I had the same issue that you described in my 2008 535i, first time to the dealer they couldn't replicate the issue and topped it off with freon.
Second time at the dealer I ended up having to replace the compressor. Thank goodness for extended warrenty.
Sucks but I hope that helps you guys.

I was about to reply with this because I experienced this exact problem. Hopefully it's this simple for OP and not a big fix like a new compressor.
