Rear view camera works without turning on COMMAND?

Rear view camera works without turning on COMMAND?
I have a 2008 GL450. Whenever I reverse I like the rear view camera to display on the COMMAND screen. Is it possible to do this without having to turn on the COMMAND unit? Right now I have to turn on the COMMAND unit for the rear view camera to display on the screen.
In other cars you always get the rear view camera on the display without turning on the other functions such as CDs, NAV and etc, so I am wondering on this car if there is a way to set it so that it behaves the same.
