08 gl450 blind spot assist
Anybody knows if I have an option of retrofitting it in my 08? Was it available in 08?. I am also looking for changing covers of my outdated mirrors? Anybody ? If I understand blind spot is self powered and with sensors in mirror itself.
I would be ecstatic to have this mod done.

It is a fully integrated system (controlled through the IC), and as Mark mentioned, it includes two sensors in either side of the rear bumper, as well as the unique mirror glass. The mirror glass alone would be over $1000, plus new housings, sensors, etc.
Does Steve at MBenzNL still do retrofitting? That's where I'd start.

just replace your side mirrors with the euro version...1/5 of the outer side mirror is angled out more for blind spot.

He still does it but he does not travel anymore. Blind spot assis is something that can be done, Steve can get all the parts needed for the job but someone would have to do the installation.
