keys needed for crossbars - help?

Howdy folks-

First time 164 poster since scoring it for Wifely back in Sept. I'll make an intro thread later I guess 8-).

I just crawled up to the roof to learn (duh!?) that keys are needed to move the cross bars.

crap

We're going on a trip next Fri and are mounting up our roof box and I'll need those suckers moved STAT.

How do I go about scoring keys quickly? I note there's a letter/3 digit number on the cylinders...

Any insight (quick!) appreciated! 8-)

TIA!

Seems like a dealer would be a good place to start. Given they are coded (the 3 digit code) I would guess you'll have to go through them.

I assume you checked the glove box, owners manual, etc for them?

Go by a sporting goods store like REI that carries Thule boxes. See if they have a set in one of their bars for sale that matches your key number that you could borrow to unlock yours.

They are indeed Thule parts and that is indeed a Thule code.

There are "universal" Thule keys that will remove anything Thule. I think you'll get one if you purchase a new set of 4 locks, as you need the ability to insert them. Inserting and removing are same thing, except reversed.

You can order keys from Thule and perhaps they can overnight.

Keys? You don't need no stinking keys. Just raise the truck to go through the unplowed driveway, forget to lower it and try to go into the garage with some speed so dont get stuck in the snow. Done deal. Both came off. Weak *** locks and all.

Ask me how I know

My wife thought the house was coming down.

kudos for sharing

I've only btdt almost 1x, 100000yrs ago w/ my bike on my Yakima... I got as far as creeping into the header w/ the handlebars

never again!

Got my keys... long story short (since we're being men and sharing d'ohisms!)... What's Her Face had the FOUR KEYS that came w/ the truck, unbeknonwst to me she'd removed them from the glovebox. - I never knew we had 'em.

I thankfully cancelled my Thule key order this morning. Phew.

yeah, I rule 8-/

well, at least I finally posted 'here'... off on the proper foot and all! (d'oh)
