GL450 window trim delaminating
I have a 2007 GL450 with delaminating window trim. The trim in question is located at the bottom of all side windows. The clear coat is peeling back in large, heavy patches from the black trim. There were some 2008 posts indicating that this is a fairly common defect, but MB is not working with owners out of warrantee.
I do not wish to pay dealer prices for the replacement of these trim pieces, but I cannot locate another source. Can anyone help me find either black (for the 450) or chrome window trim (for the 550) so I can replace these myself?

If you feel like doing it yourself, buy some 3M matte or gloss black vinyl trim and install yourself. If you don't want to do yourself, have a tint shop do your window trim- should be no more than $100 if you don't want to do it yourself.
I'd take a look over at some of the AMG forums where this modification is more common and you can get some tips on doing it.
(I've done it before on an S550 and it's really easy- I don't recommend Avery film. Go for the best in 3M.)
