2013 GL550
I saw an internal MB sheet that said the 2013 GL550 is not available until March 2013. Does anyone know otherwise? Also, can you get Designo without the quilting? Finally has anyone seen the new wood options?

I was told at the press launch that the GL550 would be available (late) summer 2012 as a 2013. The AMG will not be out until first quarter next year. The Designo interior shown on the GL550 at the show had quilting and MBUSA was very proud of it as it looked like a "Bentley". It also had the matte wood, which looked very nice against the brown quilted Designo leather and black (new suede-like material, not Alcantara) headliner.

2013 GL BODIES
anyone know if the 2013 GL320 will have an option to look like a GL550
or are all the 2013 look the same just different wheels?
PRIOR YEARS THE 550 HAD FLARED WHEELS WELLS AND A BIGGER GRILL AND FRONT REAR BUMPS
2013 GL320 AMG SPORT (GL550 LOOK) WITH DESIGNO - THAT INTERIOR IS SUPERFANTASTIC
or are all the 2013 look the same just different wheels?

that would be sweet to get one to look like this GL550 with AMG sport package
with only buying the GL350 - typically GL's didn't offer a sport package to mimic the AMG or the higher end model
maybe 2013 will be different.
Here is the look i want

The GL550 with the appearance package will be a great car. With the Renntech ECU tune, it will produce 530 hp and 600+ lb-ft of torque. I believe the 450 will utilize the exact same engine but with a different tune. It will be a great time to be a 2013 GL owner.

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part
unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle
(per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))

2011 E550 Sport (traded), 2012 SLK 350; 2013 GL450 on order for OCT delivery
I visited my dealer last week to view the pre-production 2013 GL350 they had for the day to do dealer training. While there we discussed ordering a GL450. They have the prices and full option list. They have orders in now with the earliest delivery expected in late August. Did not talk about a GL550. To my dismay, the "Surround View" in the Parktronic option is not yet available although MBUSA continues to advertise it as an available option. I decided not to buy one until my dealer can guarantee that it will have the "Surround View." BTW, the interior is a very significant improvement, especially the "MultiCountour Seats" which work more like those in an S550. (The ones in my 2011 E550 are not worth the cost.)

Shame on Mercedes; I constantly get links to the GL because I subscribed to the GL alerts through Google. My dealer is getting angry at me because I keep asking when it will be available. I want a loaded GL550 and I'm sure I will not order it without the surround view. The dealer says go ahead and order it what difference does it make; well at well over $100,000 it makes a real big difference. I thought the day of the manufacturers kicking the public around was over. The article from today went on to say that Mercedes has sold around 25,000 of these units each year. Well keep it up Mercedes and you will find that not only will I buy something else and recommend that my friends do also; additionally when my S550 is going to be traded it may be against something else.

Here is a quote from the article and the link below it. I hope this helps.
The current-generation GL has fought tooth and nail to best the Escalade at its own game on its home court. Mercedes-Benz reports the company managed to sell 25,139 GL-Class units last year, thereby becoming the most popular luxury SUV in the U.S. in the process. This new generation will only coax more buyers behind the wheel, and that's saying something given the leviathan's price tag. Technically, Mercedes-Benz will ask $63,900 for the GL450, plus a $950 destination fee. That cash will buy you standard equipment like heated eight-way power adjustable seats, dual-zone climate control, Attention Assist and Collision Prevention Assist on top of a slew of other mechanical and comfort equipment. It's worth noting, however, that Collision Prevention Assist won't actually engage the brakes to avoid an impact without the $2,800 Driver Assistance
