Installed a Dynavin D99 Head unit
Installed a Dynavin D99 head unit.
Almost Plug and Play. Only have to run GPS antenna wires and Optional rear view camera.
I modified the storage drawer right below to store the Aux 3.5mm, USB and IPOD cable.
The unit pretty much does everything.
Navigation - Igo 8 software.
SD card for MP3 and video
DVD
USB for MP3 and video
IPOD,
Bluetooth
Aux audio
RCA audio F and R preouts
2 RCA video out.
Steering wheel button interface.
Pretty happy with it.

I suppose if you use the Aux for the SAT radio. But the headunit has no provision for Sat radio.
Oh you will need a RCA to 3.5mm cable for Aux. Aux actually use a Audio Video input source so it can do video.

IMHO SAT radio is obsolete when using Pandora/Spotify/NPR Player with Bluetooth streaming. All that content is available through your iPhone/Android and can stream to your head unit without the need of having a sat radio subscription.

The head unit installs in about 20 min. add time to run the GPS antenna cable and stick it near the windsheild.
No wire cutting.
Can be done in about 1 hr at an experienced installer.
I prob took an extra hour to have the USB, IPOD, AUX cable routed to the storage drawer.
Head unit installation video . BTW you actuall dont have to remove the ash tray drawer. Harness comes with the unit for plug and play install.

It looks great. How well does the Bluetooth functionality perform? Any comments from the people on the other end of the phone call on the sound quality i.e. do you sound clear or echoed, faint or otherwise?

Correct, if you have fiber optic cables installation will not be direct plug and play. We have some installers able to by-pass fiber optic cables and install unit. However, installation costs were around $350-$450. Does seem kind of pricey, but some MB owners pay $200 for an oil change.

If you have the fiber optic link to OEM amps. The unit can still be installed. Just not Plug and play. Have to wire the speakers directly to the head unit.
I like the unit, it does a lot. but I wish the Nav software and MP3 player interface was a little more advanced.

if you have a subwoofer at the rear you prob have the premium sound.
I made sure the old fashion way.. take the oem headunit out disconnect the fiber and see if it still have sound coming out of the headunit. . In my case the fiber was for the disc changer. LOL. disc changer. that was for the 80's.. I dont even remember when I last played a CD in a car.

Hey fkong777, I have an 08 GL, and since I can't get video of any kind on the head unit, I am thinking of upgrading to this. Although there are many out there, I like the Dynavin interface the best.
How does this perform in the day time. I've changed my car stereo in past cars to other more advanced systems with video, but the brightness in the day time is really poor. The MB factory unit looks fine in the day time, but wonder how this will perform.

Unless you travel in rural areas or between states. Then the phone doesn't get internet, but the sat radio is strong and clear.

Exactly so. There are many many areas where not even cell service exists. In some places all service, even sat, drops out. If I'm listening to a comedy channel I can almost guarantee that the sat service will drop out right at the punch line!
