GL450 Rear Entertainment Screen Replacement
I commute 20 miles each way with wife and two toddlers. The rear entertainment system is fab--the one toddler who is forward-facing loves it. The youngest just got switched from rear-facing and I went to turn on his screen and found that it had been broken (pressed too hard against the rear-facing car seat, or so it seems).
I called the MB service department to find out the cost to replace this and was told that this would be $1,118 plus $397 labor to fix. This is staggering considering that it's only $200 more to buy if you don't have it all.
Any thoughts or does anyone know where I can get a replacement screen?
Sincere thanks!

What model year is your car?
I'd keep my eyes peeled on eBay as that'd be your best bet to get this part at a reasonable price. Keep in mind the ML and R vehicles of the same vintage will have the same style screens as your GL, so that should help when looking for a used screen.
Just FYI 2006-2008 is the style that blends in with the car's interior color (3 color variants), 2009-2012 is a different style where they're silver/black.

Fitted it the only problem I have is that each time I go to turn it on a blank screen comes up. I then have to pull out the power cable at the back of the unit and put back in. Then I get the Mercedes logo and everything works fine. Until the next time
Does anyone know if in replacing the screen an update or software reset is required to overcome this problem.
