just an update on this....... today the service guys said they don't know why this is happening/. They have a "test unit" that they hookup to the vehicle and the test unit is able to make the lights move from side to side, however, without the test unit the lights won't move.....the next step is that they want to keep the vehicle overnight, hook up the test device, and see what it records when the lights come on because of darkness. We will see....

Hummm.... Interested in this. Keep us updated with the results.
Although mine "self level" (go up and down) at startup I am not "seeing it" swivle during driving. I drive through pitch black areas to get home at night so it gives me a good opertunity to notice it.

My comparison for this in my Infiniti which has a very pronounced and plainly obvious swivel especially when turning left. Even inside the garage with the Infiniti, if the car is stopped and and I turn the wheel I can see the light move across the wall.

Just in general I know that the headlights won't swivel on the MB when stationary. They will swivel when the car is in motion, though.

Does the fog light come on when going left or right? Not sure if that could be a hint or not.

So I tried this tonight on the way home (dark road). Mine did swivel but ever so slightly (compared to my Infiniti ). I did slight S turns on the road and I could see them move slightly before the truck would start turning.

It was very easy to see the swivel action on mine.....then, no more! It goes to the dealer tomorrow for an overnight....they will test it in the dark and go from there!

WELL........according to the tech, who I trust completely, the lights ARE moving! The system is apparently pretty complex and the degree of movement is related to a zillion factors that the system takes into account. If the vehicle is NOT moving, then the lights will remain pointed straight ahead even when the wheel is turned. ....and there other factors, etc. I know that I had the same system on my 07 and the swiveling of the lights was indeed visible when the vehicle was stopped and I turned the wheel. If anybody else with the active headlight system would do a simple test....go outside in the dark and try moving the wheel without moving the vehicle....would be greatly appreciated...and would confirm or refute what the tech people tell me.

I don't have mine anymore to do the test, but I do remember it being speed related. Being completely still and turning the wheel wouldn't turn the lights. Going above a certain speed, perhaps 40mph or so wouldn't turn the lights or at least not very many degrees.

I've got an 07 R with lighting package and I can confirm that my headlights DON'T move when I'm STATIONARY and turn the wheel. You have to be moving (even a low speed under 5mph and they will swivel when turning the wheel).
