Pricing for extended CPO warranty or other

I have a 2008 GL450 that is a CPO purchased vehicle and the CPO warranty expires in January. I am interested in extending the warranty, either the 2/yr/135k CPO or aftermarket. Please post prices you have paid and plans you have purchased and contact info for selling dealership if you can.
thanks

IIRC our 2 year/25K extended warranty on our '08 320 was right at $2500.

I believe you have to buy the car new to change MB extended warranty options and you have to do it within the original factory warranty. You may need to look into an aftermarket warranty.

There are 2types of extended warranties
-std extension, things like 6/75 and 7/75...
-cpo extension only 2 options 6/120 and 7/135

The cpo options are less expensive because if you have a cpo car u already got and paid for 5/100. Any dealer can sell u either extension as long as the car is covered by a MB warranty. I recently bought a cpo e350 so I just went thru all of this.

I have been looking for a CPO GL with the addition of an extended CPO warranty. Here are some quotes.

1 yr/120k $2795 MB Monterey
$2820 MB San Francisco
$2995 House of Imports, Buena Park

2 yr/135k $3295 MB Monterey
$3570 MB San Francisco
$4295 House of Imports, Buena Park

The GL in Monterey was outside the original 4yr/50k warranty period. The other two GLs were still covered under their original warranty. Please post what you are finding.

I recently bought my CPO 2010 e350 so I just went with this. First the CPO warranties are very negotiable so be prepared. Second, the LIST price direct from MB is published in the CPO brochure and ALL of these quotes are for OVER MSRP for these extended warranties! Interesting... looks like sleazy dealer crapola. The LIST prices for the GL (assuming it is not an AMG) are: $2195 for 1 yr 120k and $3295 for 2yr 135kmi. That is where you should start. You should be able to get a significant discount from there. I am sure that they will come up with some baloney like "we can't do those prices because "the moon is full and I want to take your money" or whatever, and they'll also say the prices can't be discounted. Pretty much standard wording for the sleazy dealers. they are pulling your leg. Contact other dealers beforehand, you can buy this from ANY dealer even if you don't buy the car there. There is another thread where they talk about acouple dealers that will deal right on the phone. Tell them what price you got and that you are happy to do business with them and they'll deal. Personally I wouldn't give them the chance because of the original quotes but that is just me.

You also have leverage if you haven't bought the car yet. They typically get you to buy the car and then offer the extended CPO warranties in the finance office. Don't let them. Make the extended warranty part of your buying decision and tell them that is what you are doing. Negotiate the total package when you are talking about buying the car. They will try to keep their process by saying something like "the finance manager handles the warranties so we can't talk about them". It is up to you here, don't bite, say you want to put them all together before you buy the car or whatever.

See attached for a screen shot from the MB CPO brochure.

+1 on the negotiate in advance advice. I got my 2 year CPO extension for $2300 or 2400 (in 2010) negotiated in advance of the sale. The dealer got amnesia after signing the paperwork for the sale, but after threatening to walk, I got it for the previously agreed upon price. It has unfortunately been a very good investment.

Looking for a dealer to work with on CPO extension

I wish I would have negotiated the CPO extension upfront, but was not smart enough.

So I am in the last 5 weeks or so of my original CPO 5YR/100K warranty with 58K miles on on my '08 CDI. Does anyone know a few dealers who are willing to sell the CPO extension at a good price?

The list price seems to be $3295. I hope I can get in the mid $2,500s, I think that will be really well worth it. I expect to have to the gas struts go and who know what else, think its worth the insurance. Love the car and would like to keep it a few more years before upgrading to perhaps a 2014 Blue-Tec CPO.

Erin Mahre of Santa Rosa Mercedes. She had the best price I found. Don't have her number at the moment but I did the whole transaction over the phone for my 2010 GL 450. Just leave her a message it took her a couple of days to get back to me.
