M1 Lowering Module Installed

Finally installed an M1 lowering module on the wife's GL. We can now fit the truck into the garage with our Yakima box on it. By using the steering wheel buttons she can lower and raise the truck. Took about 30 minutes to install with the quick connect harness.

Before and after pics.

How much suspension travel does it add? Up? Down?
Does this fit all GLs?
What did it cost?

Nice! I lowered my wife's by adjusting the sensors but it's not cockpit adjustable like the M1. I thought it looked really good sitting down low but then found that lowering any more than 1" made it ride REALLY bad. I think it has to do with lower air pressure in the air-spring to drop the car effectively reduces the spring rate. Less travel with less spring rate is a bad combo.

This might be a cool solution to find the best balance of ride, handling, and looks.

There are 8 different settings up and down. Each one is a 10 mm drop (or increase). www.loweringmodule.com

You can not drive the truck all the way lowered ---rides like a low rider. Some where in between stock and all the way down is a sportier ride. I drive it with it in -3 and it feels more like my old Touareg. My wife keeps it in the stock position when she drives it. She also uses it to load and unload our mutts in the back.

Do you have to worry about premature tire wear when lowered since it affects the suspension geometry and will likely make your wheels have more camber? Or is it not that big of a deal?

When I lowered the CL 50mm or 2", I took it to the shop for a wheel alignment and they said everything was still within Mercedes Spec and needed no adjustments.

Excellent. Really help when I talk to someone who's had experience doing it. MB dealer always gives me a conservative answer swaying me against doing such things as it'll "ruin my suspension."

I lowered the rear on mine ~1.5" and the alignment looks good when I took it to the shop but wasn't sure.

Not really because the module will revert back to factory ride height by 60MPH. Which is a lowered ride height anyway.

Yes. Took about 30 mins. Really easy with the plug and play harness. The factory Airmatic control unit is under the drivers side carpet, so really the hardest part was getting access to it.
