airmatic malfunction

I just had the "malfunction" show up on my dash. The picture of my GL with and upward arrow and the word malfunction.

If I push the up button the dash says truck is rising (it isn't) and the button light flashes on/off. Nothing happens, it doesn't go up or down. The truck doesn't seem to be out of air or riding lower in it's tires. The same amount of wheel well is visible. When I parked I tried it again and this time is said compressor cooling on the dash.

I am about 500 miles away from a dealership, is this something that I should be calling and getting them to tow it in? I'm on warranty and have never had an issue yet with this truck, at almost 40,000kms.

Any suggestions? The dealership is closed for the weekend.

tks

It happened to our 2007 GL450 too. In my case, there was no air in the bags and compressor had failed. MB towed it and replaced the compressor under warranty. Good luck with yours.

My truck left for Edmonton this morning, I am hoping that it's not a huge issue and a quick fix....Did your truck dip down on any corner when yours failed? My RRS did, but this truck didn't, the ride was rough but there was still a lot of space in the wheel well it wasn't like it was riding low on the tires.

It was while ago. I think airmatic light was on for couple days. I scheduled for appointment to drive it down to the dealership. But, on the day of appointment all four corner were low. So end up towing to dealership. all cost and towing was covered by warranty.

just got back from Edmonton and it ended up being a ground wire that had detached and so it wouldn't complete the circuit. about a 30 min repair.... 600kms to go pick it up, but glad to have my truck back
