2016 GL450

2008 gl450 - Issues

Hello All-

I just had an oil change done on my GL and the shop found the following issues. Please advise how serious these are and if they are vcovered by MB Extended warranty?

1) Rack & Pinion leaking
2)Oil Pan gasket leaking
3) Powersteering reservoir leaking

I want your opinion before driving to the dealership

2011 GL450, '06 R500 traded, '08 ML350 sold

I don't see why the MB extended warranty would not cover these. I had my power steering reservoir replaced because it was leaking and was covered under new car warranty which is almost the same.

Thank You for the reply.. Does anybody know if there are any service bulletins that I can refer to the dealer if he tries to deny the warranty coverage

Look at the warranty paperwork you signed. It spells out EXACTLY what is covered and what is not.
Why are you so concerned? The dealer will only deny coverage if he knows he will not get paid from the warranty and rightfully so .

Dealer says the Power Steering reservoir is leaking and is not covered by warranty

and it costs around $350 to fix it... Anybody knows if it is true? I am getting it fixed anyways...

I had mine fixed under the extended MB warranty. Oddly enough, the part was covered but I had to pay around $60 for labor.

Yes, it is covered under the Mercedes Extended Limited Warranty Agreement, if that is what you have. The warranty covers everything the original warranty covers with the exception of "appearance items" and problems caused by damage.

2016 GL450

Got my GL back on friday... It was the reservoir "seal" that was broken and dealer said it was covered by the warranty. But charged me $80 for the labor. I leaked oil spread on the pinion and oil pan and there isn't any oil leak from those parts. Felt lucky...
