2012 Running Board Problems

I noticed one of the black nubs on my 2012 GL350 factory running boards fell off. How do you reattach the black nub and is this a constant problem I'm going to have. It seems these running boards would hold up better than only 1 year and 3 months.

Hey happened to me too except that I don't have it to put on back (guessing on the road somwhere ). So now I acctually have a missing one and I "notice" it every time.

My boards are also starting to develop small rust spots. Very disappointed and I don't know how to control that better other than wipping it down all the time.

Does anyone know if the factory running boards are covered under Mercedes standard warranty and if there has been any factory recalls on them.

It amazes me a factory part after only a year old would begin to fall apart.

The piece that came off the running boards is the black rubber grommet. I glued the piece back on but it appears that to be properly attached the stainless steel top piece has to be removed and sits on top of the black rubber grommet. I will be taking my vehicle in for its Service "C" maintenance and I will then find out if this defect is covered under the Mercedes warranty for my 2012 GL350 purchased 04/02/2012.

those rubber grommets are one piece, so glue will not really last. I had at least 12 replaced in the last year or so. Gd thing is, mercedes will cover it under warranty, so i just have them replace it when i go in for service.
